Final Model

The use of a dome over the top half of the building was to display Stelarc's suspension works. There's a bridge that circles around the hemisphere for visitors to walk along and admire his work.

My plan is to create my model with glass as the exterior material (mainly for the 'upstairs'). This was to symbolise Stelarc's 'lightness' shown in his works, such as his suspension works. It was also to symbolise his type of art, which is quite straight forward and intriguing. I have always considered glass as a beautiful material to use in architecture as it is so enriched in possibilities in the way it's displayed or reflected. Glass is also simple and elegant as shown in Ai Wei Wei's works.

Stairs development

Stairs to be part of Ai Wei Wei's part of the gallery/studio. They're wooden as I generalised his type of materials in his artwork as organic and quite natural. The steps are sticking out as I see his work as quite eccentric.

Spiral (slightly 'floating') stairs running through the tube in the center of the upstairs gallery.

I am yet to add the 'floating' stairs into my model as part of Stelarc's studio.
